Background
The Environment and Development Foundation ("EDF") was founded in 1997, as a not-for-profit environmental organization, through the generous donation of a start-up fund and technology transfer from the Industrial Technology Research Institute ("ITRI"). Currently, Dr. Shih-Min Chiang and Dr. Wen-Ching Chen serve as the Chairperson of the Board, and President of EDF, respectively; while former Chairperson Prof. Sung-lin Chai and former President Dr. Ning Yu serve as the honorary Chairperson, and Senior Advisor of EDF, respectively. The rest of the EDF staff consists of professionals with background in environmental science or engineering, as well as supporting staff responsible for administrative affairs and public relations. Due to its close relationship with the ITRI, EDF works and cooperates closely with domestic and overseas environmental groups in pursuing environmental initiatives, and is supported by the thousands of ITRI technical experts and professionals in terms of required technical expertise.
